Reverse stopped working

I'll follow through with directions on fuel and water thanks.

On the forward reverse issue, it starts if I push in the reverse pedal, but still only operates in forward.

When you look underneath, you will see the two devices that tell the controller to go F or R.. I normally would call them pots, or variable resistors, or whatever. But now days, they could be just about anything. Good luck, Jerry..

Banged on both F and R pedals a few times and now that issue is resolved. JerryK was correct on wires being exposed, shorting fuse for water in fuel. I fixed the wires.

Next question. If I pull the water in fuel drain off, should it drain continuously until the gas tank is empty or is it just whats in the water separator tank?

Reason I ask, I drained like you said, reattached, and light stayed on. I started without it plugged in and light was off. It just drained for 30 seconds and now a drip every 3 seconds. Is this normal? I'm about to reattach and see if light goes off.

It will drain the tank completely.

Is there a blank place in the fuse block where you plug in a fuse and do a reset?
Some tractors have that,,,

All you have to do is back the sensor out a little until it starts draining, do not have to or would you want to take it all the way out. Or it would probably drain the tank like you thought. Once you get clear diesel, just tighten it back up. A lot of diesels use this type of system. It puts the sensor in the lowest part of the fuel system where the water will congregate to, and simple to drain... I don't know about the reset, or even if you have to. I would think it would just go off once you get the water off the sensor. In all my years of running diesels, I don't remember ever having water in the fuel lines.... I always keep my tanks full with clean fresh diesel... You probably don't have water either, just the wire problem...

My antiquated tractor has no electronics to show water presence,,,

In my fuel/water separator,, there is a red ring,,,
if the ring floats, drain until the ring is back down.

You can see the "wingnut" drain at the bottom.

Ohhhhhhh,,, the horrors of having "old" technology,,,

Lol. Sometimes technology is a pain in the butt.

If you get a chance can you post a photo of what was fix or adjusted. I've got a feeling others will appreciate knowing how to fix this issue.

After trouble shooting everything that JerryK suggested I finally just banged the forward and reverse pedals several times and it finally worked. I couldn't see any debris or sticks anywhere in the way. It's just crazy that this happened the same time the water in fuel went sensor went off as well as me finding fluid leaking underneath. I'm still trying to find out what the hole is underneath leaking fluid. Thinking a possible weep hole?

If you have oil coming out of the weep hole, I'd think it is either hydraulic fluid from the transmission side or engine oil from the other side. Generally it is hard to tell by looking at the oil, but you might try that. The engine oil on a diesel turns dark pretty fast, while the hytrans ought to stay clear to honey like.

Either way, a new tractor should not be leaking any appreciable amount from that weep hole. If you had 3-5 oz, a half a cup of oil, a dealer should see this tractor. I'd probably call the dealer, and he will likely say to just keep an eye on it and it can be looked at during the next service.

Warranty does not cover hauling the tractor.

Good work from the TBN team here on getting your forward and reverse going again and your water in fuel problem solved.

Any way you happened to leave your hyd remote engaged for a good while? Very common to happen since its a detent remote and has to be put back into neutral manually.... iv seen to many times someone either bumps it and dosnt realize the tractor engine dragging... it can heat up every seal in the tractor and cause them to go out and leak oil places it shouldn't... I may have already mentioned this I remember a thread just like this a good while ago hope not the same one lol.

You referring to rear remote lever? If so, no, it stays in neutral. But tomorrow makes a week since I dropped it off at dealer. Hopefully I get word soon.

Okay, so I got the tractor back today. They replaced the whole HST all covered under warranty. Dealer said inside there a defective flange where it meets the gasket, thingymabobber, was leaking. Said they could have repaired it, but since it was warranty, they just replaced the whole HST. Also with the water in fuel light scenario, the wiring was kinda chewed up, so they replaced it and all is good to go. They also did the most recent flash/update. Everything seems fine, but only drove it onto trailer as of now.

I was able to get it running, so I just put her on the trailer and took her in. I was questioning transport when I thought she might be dead in the water. It's all good!
