Losr, is there a reason you have the ballast on while changing tires?
Not sound like the safety police, but don't forget the jack stands. Unlike a car the front axle pivots which allows the tractor to rotate on the jack.
I was doing a similar tasks on my tractor, I was almost finished, I reached under to just tighten the oil filter back on. the tractor rotated from the tightening force on the filter and it slipped off the jack and fell on me catching me on the chest on it way down. I think I only lived to tell about it because it happen so slowly that I was able to slip out of the way before I recieved all of the crushing force. I was bruised up bad for Weeks. Just be careful.
Honestly...never thought about removing the ballast. It stays on all the time (except) when needing the PHD. But you point is well taken and appreciated. If you look closely in both pics, you will see we did use jack stands but no sense not taking off that 350 lbs of weight in the back.
Thanks
