Reversible fan retrofit anyone?

The last series of actual International tractors in the very early 1980s the 88 series (3088, 3488, 3688, 5088, 5288 & 5488) had the fan mounted in front of the radiator, but they did by running the fan shaft through the center of the radiator.

I don’t know how they fared longevity wise though.

Back in the day - 60's, 70's Caterpillar Track Type Tractors had a reversable fan. In warmer weather the fan was adjusted to blow forward thru the radiator and the heat away from the operator, and then in colder weather the fan would be reversed to draw thru the radiator and provide some warmth to the operator.

I’ve considered the “clean fix” brand of reversible fan for my Massey 7495.
Tired of cleaning out hay chaff kicked up from front mower.

Looks like about $2,500 installed since I already have on-board air. Air is required to reverse the blades and I have air brakes on the Massey and a compressor, just like an air braked truck.

Might do it this winter.

Post some pics if you get this system!

Will do. With my businesses situation it comes down to choosing between improving what equipment I have, or buying additional equipment to open new doors to making more gross profit.
Tough choices.

It’s an added expense and something else to break, in my humble opinion

Having to stop the machine for high temp alarms and clean out chaff is a waste of time and money too. So are engine fires.

It would be really nice to reverse the fan on my BX in the Winter to provide heat!! The BX fan pulls from the operator station toward the front of the machine, the ability to reverse the flow would negate the need for a dedicated heater!.

Great thought food!

Look for manually reversible fans, I had them on my CAT dozer, I just manually turned the blades 180 degrees for winter operation.
