review of KK XB cutter

I believe I saw an XB rotary cutter at TSC in Hermatage Pa. over the weekend !!
If I remember right you are from the DuBois area which would be about a 2 1/4 drive .

Now that I know some TSC has them, I can call Clearfield (closest) to see if they can get one for me to see.

Talked with the Clearfield TSC - said they have 2 XB cutters in stock. But, they want $625. They also have the standard 4' King Kutter for $565. I'm getting one of them Saturday as I have a job I need it for.
So...my question: Has anyone put the standard 4' King Kutter on a JD2210?
I do like the design of the XB, especially the 2 rear wheels. Is it worth the extra $60?

I was surprised to see the XB and small implements were more expensive then some of the larger KK implements !

<font color="green">Wow, the Clearfield TSC is asking quite a lot by comparison for the XB cutter. At my local Orscheln Farm and Home store in Bedford, Indiana the XB cutter sells for $539.

I'm suddenly in the market for a brush hog, and if I go new I'll probably get a KK. Did anyone ever answer the question about the standard KK and the XB cutters? That is, is the XB worth a bit more than the standard if you can use either? I might go for a 5', in which case the standard KK will be it, but if I decide to go for a 4', a little extra for the XB would be OK if it is worth it. It looks like I'll be cutting mainly over grown fields, with almost all grass, so my old L210 might be OK with a 5'. Anyone got an opinion? Foolish question, hey?

I have a 4' KK XB Cutter on my Yanmar YM1300D. It works great! I am tough on my equipment but that little tractor tows it and mows field grass easily. It also takes out brush and saplings relatively easily. Brush, no problem at all and depending on the size of the sapling. I have been using it to prepare for food plots as well as cutting trails through overgrown brush and fields. The TSC's around here have plenty of them(Canandaigua, and Batavia NY) Price was more for the XB but it has two gauge wheels and the lift pins are mounted lower for sub-compact tractors like mine.

Regarding an L210 with a 5' cutter, I think it will spin it ok, esp in lighter material. I have an '84 MF 210-4 which is 25hp / 22pto with a 2cyl diesel - so it sounds similar to your L210. Anyhow, it lifts it and spins it fine, even in rough stuff. Only thing I dont know about is the lifting bit with your L210 - my MF weighs about 2300lbs dry with a 1300lb lift cap, so it does fine with no front weights. The 5' KK weighs about 500lbs or so.

I've got some weight on the front of the L210 and can lift my Brush Hog 5' finishing mower with no problem. I also use a 5' KK tiller and can lift that thing too. So, I figure lifting the 5' cutter will not be a problem. However, my pto hp is probably less than 20....I've seen different numbers for the L210. I can pull the 5' finishing mower through waist high grass, and it will cut it, the ATH600 is a heck of a machine, but I'm in first gear to do it. I wonder if I'll be able to speed up a bit with a brush hog (cutter, not brand) going through the same stuff. Tall grass is mainly what I'm going to cut. My son-in-law has some over-grown fields I'd like to help him with, but they are also mainly just tall grass and weeds. I'd rather go faster with a smaller cutter than creep along with the bigger one. What do you think?
