Hey guys give me some reviews on your Tig welders. I'm looking at Miller, Lincoln, Htp. Looking at units that are AC/Dc. Right around the $2500-3000price range. I'm leaning toward the Htp unit.
Thanks for any input.

How many amps are you looking for?

The machines in that price range are 200 plus amps. The htp 221 is 220 amps.

My 4 TIGs are miller, had and used a lot of other. Lincoln would be 2nd on my list, had them too.

The last water cooled Syncrowave welders I picked up were under $1500. A 250dx and 300. the Maxtron was under that price range too but needs other attachments for HF and I have never needed 450 amps @ 100% duty cycle.

If you're going to do a lot of aluminum, I'd look at the Dynasty line up.
Personally I'd look long and hard at the Dynasty 350, but you'll have to triple your budget!

I think that solid material witnesses on the units you mentioned may be few and far between on this forum, not that they are non existent here, but just rare. These units are typically out of the practicality range for many of the guys here. It's not that they don't have the money, time or experience, to have one, but a farm equipment website lends itself to guys who either farm full time, or see it as a hobby. Both of which typically don't favor TIG as a welding process or don't want to budget that kind of money for something that isn't used full time. Guys like Shield Arc and a few others do have experience, but a lot of the experience is with older equipment. Obviously, I work for a competitor product as well as a couple of other guys lurking around. I'm not going to try to convince you to look at mine since you are pretty clear on the units you have in mind. I have looked at and operated the Miller and Lincoln Products. I am full aware of HTP and it's reputation and specs. The Miller Dynasty 200 would be a little under powered for the price range you quoted. Keep in mind it's barely a 200 amp machine, with a limited duty cycle on 220 single phase at full output. I haven't looked at the Lincoln specs lately on the 205, but do remember it having similar specs. If you can stretch your budget, I'd go to something with more amperage and better duty cycle. HTP has a good unit, on specs alone...but I have not welded with it.

I'm no Tig weldor by any stretch of the imagination:eek:! Especially with aluminum:ashamed:! But here is what a Dynasty can do with aluminum, and a rookie holding the torch.

Not bad for a rookie...

Is it the picture? It looks like brass at my end.

What ever you buy, read up on the inverter units. No need to ball the tungsten on aluminum. Using a sharpened tungsten gives you a much smaller heat effeted zone and with variable Hz you can do thicker material with a smaller machine. Last I looked Lincoln was still using chopper technology in their tig inverters. Red up on the difference between chopper and IGBT's. Lots to consider if you are about to dump 3-4K on a new machine. Good luck..
