Got a new tractor last month, daylight is long this time of year so I've not gotten around to installing the ROPS lighting I'll need for fall/winter.

First tractor with a loader - headlights are damned near useless unless you put the bucket way low (in the dark in a pasture? no thanks) or way up high (slightly more practical..only just).

So - instead of all sorts of wiring, relays, switch placement etc - why can't I just unplug the headlights and tap into the harness there, run the wires back and up the ROPS?

Check your wiring first carefully.
Many smaller Kubotas came with a plug under the back seat for optional lighting, you might have a easily accessible plug there.

Oh yeah!
The delivery tech showed me that..said it was wired into the headlights..so yeah!!!

THANKS!

Might want to separate the Toro from the Kioti, in your 'tractor' list; we Kioti guys don't need people thinking Kiotis are associated with Toro. There's already enough confusion about the orange tractors...
You're right, with a FEL on these tractors the headlights just serve to annoy!:smiley_aafz:
Otherwise, how do you like your Kioti?

Only you would have a problem with this, most of us could care less what others think.

I don't have a problem with it; seems maybe you do. What you mean to say is: most of us couldn't care less what others think. So continue to care less until you don't care at all. Was I speaking to you? Are you the OP now? I made a suggestion to the OP, if you don't like it, ignore it, especially if you care so little...

LED's don't pull that much current. Not like standard bulbs do for the light output they put out. I wonder if the headlight bulbs up front could be replaced with LED drop in's and then run a wire from the headlights to the ROPS for more LED's. Need to add up amperage, but depending what is bought... the amperage may be about the same with more light output. Now you got me to thinking. I have a Kubota L3830 that has a green hot plug under the seat, but I think upgrading to LED's up front and on the ROPS would be a better way to go and they would be on the same switched circuit. If the green hot plug is wired into the light switch that may be even better. Now I need to check. Opinions?

I checked the green plug under the seat and the power comes on when the ignition switch is turned on, and not connected with the light switch. For me, simply running a wire from the lights to the ROPS would be best.

I unplugged my headlight harness and ran my front LED lights to the low beams on the headlight switch and the rear LED to the high beams. Didn't even have to cut the factory plug off. A standard extension cord plugged into the harness and I ran the extension cord to the LEDs.

That's a brilliant way to do it! Did you use a 3 prong ext. cord or just a 2 prong, and both sides or only one side of the headlight plugs? Did you split the one side to high and low or otherwise? Do you have any pics of where you mounted the front LEDs, etc?

TIA,

CM
