As long as there is enough slack in the hose to cut some off, you should be able to have a new fitting clamped on. The mesh covering is a protective cover to help avoid abrasion, and to contain small pin leaks.
Following Vince's recommendation, it should not be terribly hard to get the hose out and back in. Use plastic zip ties on any locations that look like they could stip the covering off while you pull it out and replace it.
Having the wire threaded through will help you to pull it back into place.
If you can trailer the tractor over to a hydraulic repairman, he may be able to repair it in place. Call around and find out first.

G'day Glen,

We have designed a very simple aluminium mesh frame that covers over all of the hydraulic lines, blocks and fittings at the front of the main cross beam of the loader.
This should stop most intrusive things like branches and stuff from jagging on the lines.
I'll take some pics of it (and other ideas and improvements) later and add them for all to see.

Cheers from Riccarda /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks Riccarda,

I would be very interested in seeing your solution.

I would just take the dead hose to a NAPA and have them make up an identical replacement. That's how it's done. My last one for the dozer was only life 65$ and it was 7' long. The crimped fittings seemed to be the expensive part.

Relatively cheap to replace.

That hose will only take a pint or so. You should be able to run it and get fluid at your convenience unless you made a hydro fluid shower.

Good deal on the hose.

Highbeam is right. Just check the hydro level, and if it is at least just above the bottom mark, you're good to go. Then you can add fluid later.
