Old thread popped back to life:)
I bought a Yamaha Big Bear as mentioned 5 months ago;)
Been real happy with it so far, the first "granny" gear in it is a real puller, which was what I was interested in. The wife even likes it better than the Rhino we had, oddly enough. Nothing wrong with the Rhino* and someday I may end up with another UTV if I didn't have to haul the monstrosity back and forth to our remote property, just too much to haul it, the tractor and implements all at once.

*except the ridiculously high reverse gear, which they fixed in later models.

I have a Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4. I have to say this quad has exceeded my expectations. It can really pull its own with power to spare. I have used it for plowing and towing and have been real impressed with the machine overall. Needless to say it can climb a tree in the woods if your into trail ridding. Best of luck with your search for a new unit.

I had a Prairie 650 and 700. Loved them both except they were cold natured, but that's the nature of the beast. Now with EFI they should be great. The rear brakes was one of my favorite features even though you hardly need to use the brakes with the KEBC system. These machines will work all you want, then they are ready for the weekend ride. I think they excell in both areas. Kaw. makes a good engine.

No problem- I still enjoy reading all the opinions:) I've had 4 Honda ATVs and was happy with all of them, just seems Honda didn't offer what I was looking for this time around. The Yamaha has done exactly what I needed so far.

I have a couple Honda Foreman S ATVS. a 99 and a 2002. THey have been very good machines. Low maintenance, easy to haul - good machines.

Dealer comes into play within reason. I have never had a ATV dealer that was any good. I am used to John Deere service. Honda, Polaris, etc - they don't do a good job around here. So - I just base it all on price.

I notice you mention Honda - Honda are coming out with a UTV called the "Big Red". It's supposed to be introduced summer of 2008. Their website describes the spec's. It's an ugly machine but, no doubt, works well.

I am going to reserve judgement on it, but it sure looks ugly.
