Rhino TW72

i am considering buying a new rotary cutter, and so far, of the ones i have looked at, i like the Rhino TW72. Has anyone had any experience with their equipment? to buy this cutter with the chain guards, it looks like about $2k. Is that about right? or do i need to look around a little more?

I've abused my father's TW72 for a few years using his 82HP Kubota. It has handled some 2 inch pecan trees and 3 inch softer trees fine. There is no edge whatsoever left on it, so grass cutting is not so pretty. It still takes out the brush well, though.

I don't know what he paid for it or where he got it.

I'd lok closely at the paint quality if that matters. I looked at a Rhino and the paint was peeling badly. After looking, I decided the Deere MX series was about the best value/durability I could find.

rhino makes a very good cutter, as does bush hog and the others, you can't go wrong with it. price seems ok maybe a coule hundred high for alabama but still reasonable.

I chose a TW72 and it has been a very good cutter. It has a very robust gear box and also very safe chain guards and a PTO slip clutch. I recomend mine. It has not been in a shed and after three years has only one tiny spot of rust where I got a deep paint scratch.

The very best thing you can do is always blow off the deck after use and remove all grasss clippings. I use an Echo handheld blower.

One reason I chose Rhino is that all the local highway contract mowers use Rhino cutters. I think in the long term, the best is worth it. You won't go wrong with a TW72.

I paid $2000 three years ago, before steel whent up.

We got a new TX 72 last year when we got the M5700 for the farm. I haven't used it all that much but my S-I-L loves it. It seems to be a very good mower and has stood up to her abuse pretty well. She's pretty rough on equipment but we've had no problems with it at all. I can't remember what we paid for it without going to check but $2,000 sounds as if it's in the ballpark.

i received another quote today: for $1850: so i figure thats what i will go with: according to the rhino web site, it has a 110 hp gearbox: that should handle anything i am going to throw at it.

Well, I'm certainly glad that I checked this site out. I have just purchased a Ford 3920 and Rhino TW-72 to go along with it. The old boy I bought it from swears by it and not at it. He says it can do anything I would want it to do. I'm going to take it to N/E Texas and clear some acreage and build a house on it. I feel pretty confident in my rig now. It's the first I've purchased, though I've been running heavy equipment most of my life. And I am sorry, but I've just got to say it...the paint ain't what does the cutting. I can't believe someone would go to a different mower just because of the paint job. Actually, I wish Rhino was a different color than orange...and I will make mine so. Maybe...Red White and Blue...with teeth!

My experience is similar, abused my Dad's TW72. Hehehe! Unlike some of his equipment that did not live up to my abuse, this Rhino is still going after 12 years. It is perfect for plowing through the forest of yaupons here in SE TX.

I'm looking for a replacement of the driveline, aka. PTO shaft. I backed into a tree, and this was the sacrificial break point. Shopping for the "shield" shaped tube - don't know what it is called. Browsed here to see if anyone had mentioned it.

I used a TW72 for about 12 years. I literally beat the crap out of it, and it kept on ticking like a Timex. Best piece of equipment I ever owned. When I sold my larger tractor, I sold the Rhino along with it. The only reason I let it go is because it's a little too big for my present tractor.

Anyway, I highly recommend the heavy duty Rhino cutters.

So heavy duty. Just replaced blades on mine. Wow, what a good difference. Not a finish mower. A real grooming weed, high grass, and brush cutter.

Dad's equipment is the best. Great to have a mentor to finance my learning curve. His Rhino is the most awesome equipment on our 75 acre farm.

Stumps are the only thing to damage our Rhino TW72. The front guard is in scrap pile. Now, I must crawl through brush with front bucket down to stop tractor on stumps before reaching the Rhino.
