I should be picking up my new TC40DA this coming weekend. Considered JD, Case, Mahindra, and Kubota, but for various reasons picked the TC40. One item I would like to change on the TC40 is the stop time when you take your foot off the pedal. It comes to a bone-jarring stop. The JD has an adjustment for this. And I thought I read about it on this site a while back when I was just starting my search for the right tractor, but can't find it now.

So anyone know if you can adjust how fast the tractor stops when you let off the pedal on the TC40 hydro?

Thanks,
KEG

Having the ability to stop quickly is not something I'd want to lose. There have been times that I went further than I wanted (and nearly too far!) . Just let up on the pedal slowly and you'll stop slowly.

I think you may be thinking of the Motionmatch on the JD. This electronically controls the rate of acceleration or deceleration of the hydro. It can be set to 10 different levels. Start and stop fast or slow. I have it set on 5 most of the time. I find it really useful and don't think too much about how fast I release or press the hydro pedals. I have a Case-IH DX29 with a tredle pedal, and that requires a more gradual approach. Not difficult, just different and requires a little more practice. I first thought the Motionmatch was somewhat of a gimmick but once you have it, it is really nice. It's really nice for people who aren't use to a hydro.

KEG, there is a damper that keeps the pedal from slamming back too quickly, but it is almost unaccessible and not adjustable. If you adjust the hydro return spring, it will make the hydro pedal return slightly slower, but if you ever put the tractor under load at low rpm, you'll find yourself in a situation where you lift your foot and the pedal stays down. Very dangerous! I think if you read in this forum, you'll find this to be more of a problem than the instant stopping.

After my 1100+ hours, I'm very used to my pedals and hardly ever find myself stopping too quickly. It's just like becoming used to a clutch. After awhile, it just becomes second nature.

Congratulations on your purchase. I think you are gonna love that TC40DA.:)

I'm in agreement with the others as it's important to have the availability to stop quickly especially in an emergency situation.

Just remember that when you have the cruise engaged to place slight pressure on the hydro pedal before tapping the brake or you'll find out what the seat belts for.

You're going to love the TC40DA.

i also had the "problem" of bone jaring stops when i was useing the cruise control. If have sence (took all of about 2 weekends) learned to tap the brake and move the foot down to catch the peddle before i come to a slamming hault.

there have been numerous times when i took advantage of the "instant" stop when i was about to run into something with either the FEL or something hanging off the 3pt.
