Riding mower recommendation for hills

I have a Steiner and on steep slopes it works great. But, when side hilling them you need the extra wheel package to hold your ground. They have a low center of gravity on these models. It's a very stable hillside machine. And once you have one it's amazing the uses you can find for the options they sell. And for snow removal the power angle brush option is unreal. Takes everything off the driveway down to the pavement. I have the clearest driveway by 8:30am of anyone around. It is that good. And the 'small' leaf blower they sell. It's a wow attachment. I can blow leaves into the next county with it. (which so happens I own part of too here) And it makes blowing leaves from a chore to fun actually. And I'm not talking about 3 trees. I'm talking a leaf pile that's big enough to be a problem for lawn service companies lol.

Steve (94' Steiner 420 with a front end loader, leaf blower, dirt/snow blade, 54" Power brush, 48" mower deck with striping roller - looking for a cheap snowblower and a cheap trencher unit 4.5" wide one)

I think we mabe over thinking this a bit. it is only an acre. An inexpensive 48" belt drive walk behind could easily handle this in an hour. They are very stable and you could find one for $800 on ebay.

That is true but ZTRs are fun and can be used also as small tractors. I put a ball on ours and use it to pull a trailer.

You're on the right track. No 2-wheel drive machine will hold safely at 30deg,up-down or sideways.I use the Kubota GR gas model on this nasty 30deg hill(bank, actually).Cheapest thing I could find to get the job done.

Super vid locknut. It made me want to go out and by one of thse GRs. I do think 4WD is a must when you get to 30 degrees.

This looks like a similar slope to what I now mow with my Country Clipper Jazee 1. I only mow down the slope, and have space at the bottom where I run onto neighbors lawn.

The Seiners & Ventracs are made locally to me, and I've been in the Ventrac factory a couple time. Ventrac is owned by the original owners of Steiner, they sold off the company and opened Ventrac and corrected al the small issues people were having with legacy parts ect. now many of the implements form the Steiners will fit onto the ventrac but not vice/versa.

I would suggest the bucket attachment with the Mower and maybe a few others :) they are Expensive but I've seem them used to mow ride/drive over stuff you cant take a 4 wheeler!

I wouldnt mind owning one but there is only one spot I cant take my mower on my place and that is pretty much full of trees anyhow ;)

Hey locknut....

Will it back up that hill? Mine would do in going forward but I doubt seriously it it'll back up it. BTW....@ 135 hours on mine, the trasmision has had the up grade kit put in it, they have replaced the glide steer cables and the factory rep came out the other day and adjusted the pressures in the the tranney. It still has no more tourqe then it ever did. Is yours still not leaking? how many hours do you have one it now? I hope all is still well.

Give a Gravely riding tractor a go. They don't make them any more. I have bought two just for mowing cliffs. Nothing better. The motor is under the seat with a heavy cast iron transmission even lower. No lower center of gravity are you going to find.

Got to agree with the comment about the Gravely....I've got one and they are pretty much bullet proof. They don't have all the bells and whistles that some of the newer machines have and they only have a manual transmission...but they are nearly indistructable!! I would get another one if I could find one......

No leaks.Since I ground off the bottom of the go pedal it has the same power and will go as fast in reverse,as forward.Should have done that mod a long time ago.Has 127 hrs.

Latest project...this is a bear,but I'm slowly getting there:)
