I am new here, but not to tractors and cutter use.
My experience is that a cutter wider than my tractor track, in among'st trees, "will" get me trapped. It's hard enough with a cutter just a little narrower than the tires.
Also, I don't want the frame work of a cutter "under" the deck. This set-up will trap objects between the blades and frame. I want the underside of the deck smooth, so larger objects can easily be slung out. I also, want a cutter with deep sides, for the same reason.
I don't know what the PTO HP is on your tractor, but for a 50 HP out-put tractor I recommend medium duty cutter in 6' or heavy duty cutter in a 5'.
My brand of choice is "Rhino"
I have a Massey- Ferguson 255. I just bought a Rhino 172 cutter for it.
