Does anyone know the proper ring gap for a MF diesel piston 3.42 in. in diameter?
Thanks in advance.

Don't know that one specifically, but a general rule of thumb for ring gaps is .004 to .005 per inch of bore . So a 3.42 inch bore would yield a top ring gap of .0137 to .0171. With gas engines this gap is increased somewhat for more high performance engines. Also the second ring is usually gapped a bit more than the top ring. This is to prevent trapping any gas that gets by the first ring between the two rings.

Thanks for your response BCinVA. Now to find an Iseki parts dealer whose prices do not give me a premature heart attack.
And suggestions?

When I was wanting to know the ring gap on a 3.42" Iseki E3CD diesel (Massey Ferguson 1440H) piston, I neglected to mention that it has a turbo. Does that have any effect on ring gap numbers?
