Re: I am at the end of my road.

Conan the Barbarian when asked what is best in life answered "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women."

Transit, I hope you have crushed your enemies, driven them before you and listened to the lamentations of their women.

With the new chemo, if I do not make it, I have urged my friend to join tractor buy net. I know he will be in good hands.

Re: I am at the end of my road.

When you go in for chemo, ask about combination therapy. I've seen gemcitabine used for bladder cancer, but along with other meds.

Regimens:

Gemcitabine-Carboplatin
Gemcitabine-Cisplatin
Paclitaxel-Carboplatin-Gemcitabine
Paclitaxel-Gemcitabine

Some MD's are very arrogant and get upset with other people recommending regimens. But coming from a patient, I wouldn't anticipate an MD getting upset.

Wish you the best.

Re: I am at the end of my road.

Here is the bottom line,

I was at Sloan today to speak with the docs overseeing my case. As it stands now they gave me 4 months to live, I was figuring on a year. There is another chemo drug to try that is 40% effective given every 8 days, if it works at all, if not that is the end. I know how badly my mother suffered with Colon cancer, I would go to a right to die state like Origen and end it all.

For a while I was in Catholic school where I learned to read, I could never get into the magic smoke, wine, olive oil and bread or any of the mumbo jumbo, I was always in trouble with the nuns for not going to Sunday mass with my class. Happy day when I got back to public school.

If it makes YOU feel better you may pray for me.

Well,
Make it the best four months of your life if you can! I know of terminal cancer patients going out and buying a brand new Corette and traveling accross the country until the very last moment; I knew her and her husband very well.... Corvettsforcancer.com

If you got 4 months-do something with it.

Re: I am at the end of my road.

Transit,
Sorry I never got to know you on here, but I will pray for you, it does make me feel better. You are facing this with a lot of courage and strength, this makes me think that sometime while you were in school you made a decision to ask Jesus into your life. Just so you know it is not all about smoke and mirrors, olive oil or mumbo jumbo. It all comes down to your personal relationship with Jesus.

Blessings

Re: I am at the end of my road.

Transit,
My Kudos to you for looking this disease square in the face.

I work in Cancer Care as a service engineer on the radiation therapy machines I am in cancer centers all over and I can say this... cancer patients are the bravest and toughest bunch I have ever seen. My best wishes to you as you fight this disease.

Re: I am at the end of my road.

I can't think of anything that would warm the soul any more than hearing the good wishes, and well wishes of many friends---who still have a sense of caring for others in a very jaded and un-caring world. All the best to you Transit Pray to God every day, try to keep your hope strong, and re-assure those closest to you that you intend to walk away from this and be at their side a long time yet.

Yea, I know what you mean..but in any case, talking to us can't be the most important thing going on with him, so let's just think good thoughts of him and hope I guess. It's all we can do unless he comes on and tells us something we can do to help.

Remember that time about the busted refrigerator and the ruined food. I don't remember what I did during that period. Had I chosen the right thing to do, I'd remember what I did. You know what I mean?

Yes I do, and I do understand about him having more important things to do. I hope everything is going good.

When someone on here is sick, its like a memeber of your family once you get to read some of the threads they have put in.
