Anyone out there use a Lawn Roller with their RK 24? I want to get a roller that is just as wide as the tractor or a little wider. Up here, East of Cleveland, the ground gets mushy at times with the rains, and I wanted to roll the yard flat. Any suggestions?
Thanks
mike

Buy a roller which will cover the space between your rear tires. Let all four tires be part of the rolling process. Your tractor tires will pressure the ground more than the roller, so it is pointless to have the roller cover the rear tire tracks. If you buy a roller wider than your tractor you will be continually turning your head to the rear.

Poly rollers are fine but you must empty before a hard freeze or freeze expansion will rend the plastic drum.

Home Depot, Lowe's, TSC all sell poly roller through their web sites. I have used my poly roller for eight years in Florida with no repairs necessary.

My RTV500/HST has 15-horsepower. RTV500 has 4-WD but i never feel the need to engage using the roller.

YOUR LOCATION SHOULD BE PART OF YOUR T-B-N PROFILE.

What Jeff says. I have a 36" poly roller that is 24" tall, holds 70 gallons that weighs 600 lbs or so. I think you may create more ruts with the tractor than the roller can flatten. At 600 lbs across 36 inches, you are only talking 17 lbs per inch. Compare that to your tractor's weight and the # of inches of tire contact. His UTV is probably much lighter, and better matches the roller's weight per inch.

Yea, I think I will skip the Rk24 rolling, I do have a John Deere zero Turn, but I don't like using that to pull the yard roller. I did have an ATV, but I sold it once I bought the RK24. I could not see keeping the ATV just to roll the yard. Oh well, I guess I am good with the way my yard looks......I will just stay off of it when the soil is saturated.
