RK 37H
RK Tractor Guy,
I was looking through the online specifications for the RK 37H tractor. The specifications page listed an optional mid PTO for theRK 37 Hydrostatic model. If this is true… My favorite tractor is complete as the RK37H is my favorite choice. It has everything I want in a tractor from tilt steering, FEL, backhoe, and plenty of power. My question surrounding all of this is? If there is a mid PTO option… is there a mid mount mower/ or mid mount drive over mower available for this tractor. If so, This would complete my Swiss army version of a full functional tractor. Looking forward to your response.

Like you, I really like that RK37 too. I have a 30 HP B model Kubota, but the RK37 is way heavier. If it had a mid-mower I would have bought one quite some time ago.

I've contacted them online and made phone calls about the mid-PTO option. I'm told that it doesn't exist and there is definitely no mid-mount mower. I think it's only listed on their site to stimulate conversation. I don't get it either.

Kubota offers a mid-PTO for the 37-horsepower "Grand L" L3560.

It is used to power front snow blowers and brooms, primarily.

I have never read of anyone powering a MMM with an L3560 mid-PTO. This may be because rotation speed of mid-PTO does not meet requirements of MMM. I do not know.

There have been several threads posted here advising it is best to order the mid-PTO on a 3,500 pound to 4,000 pound tractor when tractor order is placed. Those with experience say installing a mid-PTO after purchase is complicated.

Well . . . . I just went through the selections on the RK site again, and I don't see the mid-mount PTO offered on the RK37 anymore. I guess they got tired of fielding questions and phone calls about this and finally corrected their website.

As of today, I no longer see it offered as an option. Based on my previous calls and emails with them, I don't believe it was ever an actual option and it was merely a mistake on the site. Corrected now.

From what I have read mid mount mowers are
a night mare! Too easy to destroy and expensive

I love the mid-mount / belly mower on my Kubota B2910. It's 6' wide and cuts great. Solid built. I cut waist high weeds with it at times -- just have to go real slow -- but it's built like a tank.

I bought the tractor 2 years old with 200 hours on it. After 19 years, the mower deck still has the original belt on it! Since it's under the tractor you don't hit anything with it like you might with a rear mower that swings sideways on turns. Easy to trim with since you look right down at the edge of the mower deck. Extends out just enough to sweep the deck up under bushes or evergreens.

I still use a zero-turn to buzz around trees and tight spots -- mainly because the ROPS and canopy catch limbs -- but for the more open areas, I love the mid-mount mower and it will cover a lot of ground in short order.

EDIT -- should also add: I can drop the mower deck or hook it up in 5 minutes. Use the front bucket to raise the front-end off the ground and slide the mower in or out on the right side. On pavement, the 4 big caster wheels roll easy. Three simple lift / attach points and the PTO are all it takes to attach. Easy.
