I have an NX5010 and have wiped out 3 flasher / turn indicators on trees while mowing. I found some aftermarket protection / shields but they are a little pricey for just some sheet metal. So, I hacked my own protection and haven't lost a light since.
See the attached photo below. What I did was by some 3" x 4" ell brackets and drilled out the one hole for the step of the light and put a 1/4" x 20 bolt in the other hole to keep it from twisting. I spent and hour or so installing them and $7.99 for the brackets. I figured I don't need to worry about someone seeing them from the front, and the trees don't attack from behind anyway.
Happy Day!

Found some short drops of stainless steel tubing at the scrapyard. Haven’t lost a light since.

Have seen painted versions on eBay.

Paul Short makes the nicest stuff.

Yeah, I've busted my share of those outboard lights on my L6060. I'm concerned about forward visibility when on the road, so I don't want to block the amber side of the light with anything.

What I do is loosen the mounting bracket & lamp bolt slightly, so with a little effort, I can swing the light & bracket inboard when I'm working near obstructions. I leave them that way unless I'm on road. If I forget and leave them outboard, they will swing in on their own with no damage if I hit a limb or branch.

Not perfect but it cost nothing and has worked well for my working conditions.

They put those indicators on a much better place in the EU models, they know people will work around trees.

What about an expanded wire cage to protect them? You could have hinge opening to allow replacement of a bulb. I'd build the cage and get LED lights to go in them. Tree limbs will tear things up, including me!

I just pulled mine and threw them in the trash. Problem solved.

First time in the woods took one off. The remaining one I then moved from up on the roll bar to the fender. There already was a hole for mounting. It's been safe, 3yrs now.

Grape vines are the worst to strip lights off. I’ve got so many. Grape and poison ivy vines big enough to saw a 2x4 out of. They do attract a lot of wildlife.
