Do any of you have experience with road maintainance, specifically dirt roads? I am wondering if a practice used by my township is common. I have a hard time seeing the rational behind this, thought maybe some of you with some experience might be able to shed some light.
Anyway, you can bet the house that it will rain 24 hours after the road is graded...I can't blame the township for that. What I can't understand is why, after running the grader, they come through with a York rake. All the rake seems to do is fluff up the material on the top. Of course when the rains come, this fluff turns into 3" of slop. Was wondering if nay of you spent any time on a road crew and whether this is a common practice.
