Road Rage in Florida

Rode in the past, not recently but will again. Prefer the dirt though. There's no brake check that would bug me seeing I stay multiple car lengths back and never go on the highway. So that makes me wonder what this guy was doing. A motorcycle on your bumper with the headlight beam bouncing off your rear view is kind of unnerving.

Yeah, with texting compounding the cell phone distraction, drinking, in addition to in hurry and general dumb a$$nes of the driving public, my Harley sat last summer and will be for sale this spring.

I sold my last bike when I moved up here to Atlanta area 10 years ago. I was intending to buy another bike once moved. But then my job had me driving 1000 miles per week and saw a continual decline in driving ability or care. I couldn't buy another bike. I've often thought I'd like to live in the middle of nowhere out west so I could ride with a lot less people around.

Probably slammed on his brakes in an attempt to get the biker off his butt. Sometimes called a "brake-check". Some people think its a good way to get tailgaters off your butt, but in reality, it's a d*** move.

I've done brake checks for years- to make sure that the precipitation isn't freezing to the road. Always after checking to make sure that nobody is behind me.

Coincidence, saw that movie on the weekend. Disappointing!

A more action packed car/motorcycle debacle.

Not to defend the biker; yet I can't imagine what he did throwing a car out of control like that. I could be mistaken, but it looked like the car driver tried to retaliate and lost control.

They have found and arrested the biker after 8 months, and charged him with causing the accident. The sedan driver has not been charged.

They obviously know more than I learned from watching the 30 second video clip. Hopefully he will get what he deserves, which should include talking to new drivers in DE classes.

Yes it does look like that to me also. Both of them should be in trouble if that video impression is accurate.

Perhaps, but why is the biker tailgating to begin with?

Why should anyone tailgate? Bad move on the person in the back. Impatient people should not claim being victimized. In my state you get a citation for tailgating if the law views it.

In this case it sounds like biker 0.0, driver 0.1. Driver wins in the end. Both fail to get the neutral 1.0 grade.

Biker hopefully learned a lesson. Car driver too...

People need to just calm down....I am a victim of a road rage incident. It happened almost 15 years ago now, when I was in my last semester of grad school in Boston. On Comm ave, in broad daylight. It's a 3 lane road, I needed to do a U-turn a ways down the road, so I was in the middle, because I knew the left lane became a "turn only" lane at one of the side streets. After that light, I put on the turn signal, glanced over my shoulder, and moved left. I immediately heard honking. Apparently the guy who was in that lane didn't see the big turn arrows on the road or the signs on the side saying turn only, and I cut him off. There was no contact between cars, but boy he was angry. Next light, the guy pulls up on my right, gets out of his car, and ran around to my driver side door and tried to open it. Luckily it was locked. But he proceeded to punch out the window and grabbed me by the neck and started screaming at me. He seemed to have a moment of clarity, and suddenly ran back to his car and sped off, but not before I got his plate number. The ADA asked me to come back to Boston to testify, but upon being notified I actually showed up, he plead out. I was told the guy was a former marine with a couple pages of bar fights and domestic violence charges. It wasn't a few months later when I saw the news that someone was shot and killed in a road rage incident....it just seems to be getting worse...

Just wait until the media picks up on the next road rage incident that involves some irate CCP holder that uses a firearm and shoots someone or something up...
Who does not see this row coming?

A bike can stop light years quicker than an automobile, which weighs 4 or more times as much.
I used to get PO'ed at people who I perceived as following too close; finally I realized that if I focused on my own driving, I was better equipped to avoid problems whether they were caused by me or somebody else. This guy obviously was being alert and keeping an adequate distance; otherwise this thread would be about his obituary.
