road railing

A section of my gravel road is truck width where it passes over a culvert that is quite deep. Would like to place railings either side of road. Any advice as to materials and tips would be very welcome. Thanks.

I see you haven't had a response here, and was wondering if simulating a guard rail like they put up for highways would be possible for you?
Maybe some treated 6 - 8" posts in the ground every 8 feet, with some treated 2x10's bolted on for fender bumpers would possibly work.

Might use surplus telephone poles, or similar.

Is this a private road, or a municipal road ( including recorded prescriptive road )?

If not private, you may not be able to do this... check with your local municipality.

I see a lot of gard rails on hiways these days use wood posts, with Armco atached to it. Now the armco[that sideways W shaped stuff] is not that easy to find, but for your use, channel iron should get the job done. Just sink some 6x6 post, lag a lenght of chanel on, and your set. Spaceing would depend on the lenght of the steel. If you can get 10 footers, I would put a post on each end, and one in the middle. That should do it. Now this isnt a high speed road is it? If so all bets are off.
