Road side cutting.. what do I use?

Having read several posts about sickle bars mowers, I am looking for opinions....

I have been thinking for quite some time about a means to cut my hilly driveway edges..
the driveway is about 1/2 long and has several switchbacks.
on the drop off side, the edge of the road goes from 1-4 feet before it drops.

What I would like is a sickle bar or other mower that I can extend beyond the side of my tractor, but not break the $$$...

I have a Bota L3400 HST with loader.

I thought about that..
but my fear is that rigging up a kill switch and the safety factor..
not to mention a few places where the overhang is over another part of the driveway...

maybe I just need to go get that DR trimmer..

I am still thinking of that hydralic motor and a DR head...

3pt mounted sickle bar mower, but it might not reach far enough.

How about replacing whatever grows there with some sort of low growing vegitation, crown vetch, ferns, pacesandra, junipers, etc.

Part of it is that way..
ivy and the like..
But right now I am more concerned about getting the yard around the new house done rather than replanting the drive sides..

Keep the ideas coming..

I thought about that..
but my fear is that rigging up a kill switch and the safety factor..

For the kill switch, put a 12 volt normally closed relay that is powered by the tractor on the mower, run a ground go into one side of the relay and the kill switch wire go into the other. Then if you flip the switch on the tractor it shuts off, or if the mower falls off (or whatever) it will lose power and shut off.

If you want to get really fancy you can use a solenoid actuator to open and close the throttle and set it up so that if it loses power it shuts off the throttle.

If the ground you want to cut is level and not sure it is, how about making an attachment for your fel to attach a self contained mower to and giving the side mount you need so you can see what is going on as you drive forward. I worked on this for myself with flat ground but slopes on ditches and such and could not come up with any mower that would handle the angle as to the engine lubrication. Would assume a 2 cycle could but did not find one. Ended up using hyd drive flail mower that I found at very good price. Swisher did have a pull mower unit with throttle cable and such. Northern Tool had them in catalog. If you are considering a hyd mower don't think your tractor has the needed flow.
