Is there such thing for trailers? Was searching to ease peace of mind for some upcoming trips but had no luck. Looks like flatbed car haulers are specifically excluded on every plan I saw.

I always heard AAA would change a tire on anything if the member who called it was standing there. I know for a fact that a AAA member (a friend) who was caravaning with fellow jeepers. Jeep person B had a flat group pulls over. AAA member calls in need tire changed, dispatched truck shows up, member says fix my friends tire please. guy does it, takes down AAA membership number and leaves.

AAA is a good starting point. My insurance company has a roadside program for members including trailers, campers, boat trailers etc

i have yet to hear of any of the roadside assistance people being what they say they are. my neice sat on interstate 40 over 2 hours just north of knoxxville tenn waiting on AAA to come and change a flat. all these insurance companys who sell you that coverage have got alot of bad reviews, and over the years i can say i have not talk to anyone who was satisfied wiyh there service. put you a spare tire and extra set of bearings in truck with you and tool box and hammer down.

Interestingly, after calling AAA last week, the dispatched tow truck refused to help change a flat on my trailer! I'm triple A, triple A doesn't service trailers he said. I was towing withy truck, on my trailer was my car, and they wouldn't help! On my return home, I spoke to my trailer guy who said he carries AAA RV Trailer plus coverage and AAA has frequently changed tires and towed trailers for him! I guess the AAA tow drivers are purely the luck of the draw?

They are contract guys. On a different jeeping trip, first AAA truck refused to service "oversize" tires. Called AAA back had them dispatch a different tow company, second guy did it no questions asked.

I gather its a crap shoot based on how the driver feels that moment.

Personally i dont use said services because like others have said, I dont have 2 hrs to wait on the side of the road for something that takes me 20 min to do (and thats with unloading the entire back of the van to get to the jack and tools.

YEP, I know that to be true.(buddy has a CAA garage and he will move a boat, neighbors car or whatever)
The only limitation is distance, generally the PLUS plan is well worth the extra.

Often other plans simply wholesale to CAA garages and don't count on great service as the CAA client will be served first.
Some plans even shut down phone lines outside of office hours.

I have coverage through USrider. They are specifically geared to handle horse trailers & tow vehicles. They contract with service providers so performance is strictly depending on who you get. BUT, there is no question that USrider will cover your problem.
Example... I ran my truck & trailer off the road (I was tired and hurting) USrider didn't have anybody in the area. We knew of a local heavy hauler & gave USrider the phone number. USrider immediately contracted with them. The local hauler then arrived with a semi sized tow truck to winch me back on the road. (overkill, but it did the job easily ! )

We have had AAA-Plus for many years, and the degree of service provided by the Towing Companies varies a great deal. A large number of Towing Companies Drivers don't like to respond to AAA calls because the set amount that AAA pays is so low compared to others. A friend of mine in Florida has had a Towing business for many years. He is still in business and has 3 wreckers. He rarely accepts AAA accounts, but he has to, to remain on the calling list by the County or City. He told me that some of his drivers flatly refuse to answer AAA calls.

My experience with roadside assistance is limited. 1st time was in about 2006 when my new F350 just died at 70mph pulling 16,000# back across 4 states. I was only 15 miles from home. The truck was only 6 months old or so. Called the Ford people and they dispatched a contractor. He showed up with a nice rollback for my truck but a POS 1/2 ton 80's era GM truck for the trailer. They were there in 20 minutes or less. I sent away the 1/2 ton and let them take my truck. Called my original salesman and he brought over a dually off the lot for me to use. Truck ended up having a bad dash cluster and I had simply ran it out of fuel eventhough it showed 1/3 tank.

The other time was last winter. My little lady was 100 miles from home and 4 months pregnant. She was in our BMW and one of the Run Flats went down. Large piece of steel in the tire the size of a playing card. She called me and I called BMW and again they sent out a rollback and took her to the nearest dealership where the put on a new tire. They were to her in about 20 minutes also.

Same here. Only had to use the service once when my ex made a bit of a mistake backing up the big trailer (loaded six horse with lq trailers should stay away from anything even resembling moist ground). Took a couple hours for them to get there but we were in the middle of nowhere (had to climb on top of the trailer just to get signal). Saved the weekend for us.

AAA all the way. Had it for about years. Flat bed hauled the Dodge 100 miles once. Flat bed hauled the Prius 30 miles (yes, I ran out of gas, but I did get 550 miles on the tank). Towed Dodge and horse trailer five miles. Key lockout twice. Tire change twice. Recently towed to get a new transmission after breaking down on the freeway. Never had to wait longer than 45 minutes and that was in New Mexico with the Prius in the middle of nowhere. Also used it for key lock out on a friends car while I was there.
AAA has more than paid for itself with coverage on two cars and trailer.

We run an auto shop with towing as a supplement to that. AAA contacted us to get contracted with them as there is only one provider in our area. Now I know why, they pay about 1/3 of what our normal charge would be, its totally rediculous to think someone could operate at a loss like that. Its funny because you look at the AAA providers trucks and you can see through the bed from one side of the truck to the other its so rusted out. No thank you!

We also deal with other motor clubs and yes, a lot of the time the stranded people are on the side of the highway for an 1+ easily. This is because either the insurance company is calling around trying to get the lowball price, or the companies dont have a clue where or what companies are even out there. Sometimes its sa really big hassle dealing with these companies. Calling at 2am just to get a price quote and waking the whole family up. Yes there can be a lot on animosity between towers and insurance companies, as you could imagine if you've ever dealt with one before.

My experience with Ford's Roadside Assistance wasn't good. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with someone who tried to tell me that they could not locate the state highway that I was on to send help. I also happened to be in the parking lot of the correctional facility that I worked at, which is an easily discoverable address.
Then they informed me that they wouldn't take the truck to the dealer that I purchased it from, which was about 50 miles away. They would go to the nearest Ford store, about 30 miles. I hung up on them in frustration. I called my dealer and they said to forget Roadside Assistance, they would send a truck immediately. They did. Problem solved.

AAA offers different plans. If you're only paying for the cheapest AAA plan then you don't have any trailer coverage. To get Trailer (or motorcycle...) you have to upgrade to the RV plan. AAA RV plus is the platinum plan and they'll cover a lot that they won't cover under the base plan.

We just opted not to renew our AAA. Wife was paying $150 per year for all of our vehicles. As it turns out, our auto insurance does the same type incidents. Also, her car is a 2012 and my truck is a 2013 with factory roadside assistance.
AAA really did nothing for our situation. Their "discounts" are pretty much worthless too. I got online to rent a car for an upcoming trip. I did better on my own finding a bargain than with AAA's so called discounts.
