Does anyone use one of these on a 25hp tractor? I知 wondering if I have enough power for driveway work and trail building.

Also do you need some sort of solid sway bars (instead of chains)?

Thanks

Never heard of a roll over box blade - what is it?

We have a 36" Gannon ROBB for our Sears garden tractor. It is about warn out after 60 years. As long as you get a 48" unit, I'm sure you would be fine. I'm not sure what actual size your tractor is, so maybe even a 60" unit.

Chains should work fine as long as you have them adjusted properly.

John, the ROBB use to be what all the commercial guys used back before there were hydraulic actuated rippers. I have 3 Gannon ROBB, a 36" for the garden tractor, a 65" for my 32HP and an 81" for my 75HP tractors.

You can engage the rippers from the seat simply by pulling on a lever, same goes for rolling the box forward or backwards. All done from the seat. Get good at it and it literally only take seconds.

To cover the tractors of 56" wide tractor (tires likely wider) you need a 60" ROBB.

I have a ~~10 year old 60" Bush Hog (brand) ROBB weighing 630 pounds. To pull a full box of dry sandy loam over level ground with a 60" ROBB requires a 4-WD tractor weighing at least 2,700 pounds bare weight. You need weight and large wheels/tires to maintain traction. You have the weight but I am uncertain if you have enough power.

You can PULL a ROBB fine with chain stabilizers but you cannot PUSH the implement to the rear.

That’s my tractor. Do you think the 60” is too big?
I like the idea of the Robb vs a standard box.

Is the ground you will work dry, sandy loam or something tougher? Is the ground you will work flat, or sloped? Is the land relatively smooth or irregular?

Unless the answer to all three questions is YES, you will not have enough power or traction. You will stall.

If you were considering a new, 3,100 pound bare weight tractor specifically for pulling a 60" ROBB I would recommend 35-horsepower minimum, better 40-horsepower.

I have only used a ROBB once and my brother in law who owns a 3000 series JD had found one and it was great. He has rocky ground and could take the rippers and pull the rocks up and then roll the box over and level the ground and rocks as needed. Must be able to reach the lever from the seat for the fullest and easiest use.
