I own a JD4210 & I'm considering some sort of rock bucket that I would drag. The reason to drag the attachment is that my loader just doesn't have the power to pick up a lot of the rock I need moved. Another reason is that I'm starting to "beat up" my bucket on the FEL because the rocks are heavy, irregular & don't push easy by no means. I have a 47 Hoe & was thinking that I could somehow use the hoe to roll the rocks into the bucket contraption & the drag them to wherever. Is there anything like this for sale or has anyone built anything like this ?? Your thoughts, pros, cons & ideas. Thanks

Have you considered using a chain and draggin the rocks.

I've skidded big rocks out before with chains. It works much better if you have a set of old heavy-duty tire chains. I have some from an old tractor that I've used. You wrap the rock with the tire chains; they act as sor of a basket so the rock doesn't slip out as easily as if you try to wrap a single chain around it. Then, you hook a tow chain to the tire chain wrapped around the rock and away you go.

Other than that, the upside-down hood is another good idea. Farmers around here used "stone-boats" which were just flat bottom sleds they'd load up with rocks and drag off with horses or (I assume) tractors later on.

Not too many good ways around it; rocks are a pain...
