My wife and I moved to NE Indiana back in the spring and purchased a place in the country North of Ft. Wayne. The previous owner had bought alot of various size rocks and had alot of ideas but never played on any of them for unknown reasons. The property had rocks hiding everywhere on the 5 acres with an overgrown pond and a field in bad need of clearing. The pond at one time was bordered with rocks that were now off in the water. Weeds and grass had overtaken the banks. The one acre around the house has a nice thick lawn and the landscape beds were not in too bad of shape. After mowing the field, cleaning the fence line, and clearing around the pond, we did some rock moving. The wife tackled the hard one. She removed all the large rocks out of the pond that had slid into the water. They're now placed on the level ground around the pond where weeds had been for years. I scooped up enough of the large rocks too build a burn pit on the shallow end of the pond. Some old cross ties were left stacked near the second drive that are now benches around the burn pit. The wife found the house and saw the great potential the property had. It has been real fun watching the place transform into what it is now. We plan on adding a beach area and wood deck next Spring to finish off the pond area. Here's some pics of the rocks around the pond and the rock fire pit with benches. The cool thing about this whole project was the cost. Nothing but a little hard work.

Wow TK, that looks great! Just shows what a little (or a lot of) hard work can do. Your wife must be a bona-fide country girl to have tackled those boulders!:D

Place is beautiful and that water looks perfect for a swimmin' hole when things heat up again.

Pics look great and keep us posted on your progress!:D

Thanks! And yep. She's bona-fied. Grew up on a horse farm in North Georgia. I thought she looked sexy in pond mud cussing at rocks. LOL!

Topkicker, I love your signature line. I can never come up with cool lines like that, but totally agree with the line itself.

Great pictures! Your view is gorgeous, even without the wife in the mud! And I second the signature line comment, it's a great one!

I'm envious! That 'pond' build is still on my list but keeps getting pushed down towards the bottom. Maybe next year. The reflection of the fire in the pond must look beautiful at times.

TIA

Thanks. It's the first line of one of my favorite country songs. The song is "Way out here" by Josh Thompson. The song reflects on working for what you have, living simple, and the way this great country should run. Check out the video on YouTube. Alot of farmland and tractors in it. Pretty cool.

LOL! I did take a picture of her while rock diving. I'd love to post it but she'd cut me off for a month.:D

Just a month, heck that'd be worth it I think :p:D

Topkicker, those stones lining the pond look terrific, but won't grass and weeds grow up around them? Will you use a string trimmer to cut around them or just let the border of the pond grow as it may? Your place is really pretty and the water in that pond is spectacular. Nice, nice, nice!
