What implement seem to bring rocks up to the surface more than others? After the rocks come up, what do you use to remove them from your garden?

My tiller sure seems to bring them up. There has to be a better way, though.. awfully rough on the tiller.

I hired a guy with a skidsteer with a Rockhound landscape rake. First he used a disk to loosen the soil then the rake. I think something like a subsoiler would have been better than the disk because it would go deaper but maybe not. Here is a link to the attachment he used,I think I have seen them for rent at Bunce, not sure.
Have fun with your "Puyallup potatoes"

First i rip it with subsoilers on an H-bar, going deper each time.

Then i hire HIPPIES from the commune down the road to pick the Rocks at $8-10 an hour /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Can't beat it grab a brewskie and kick back /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Then i rip it again and have the HIPPIES from the commune down the road pick it over again and again and again /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Then i till it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Then i feed the HIPPIES /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

HEY,,,, Ship them hippies this a way /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, I just spent the weekend Harley Raking my 3.5 acre lawn with a rented skid steer. The rake does everything that it claims to do but with my soil, I'm still out there hand raking trying to get the rest of the rocks up /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Some day I'll start another thread about my experience with the skid steer. Maybe the rock hound will save me days and days of raking.

Pulling a box blade with the scarifiers down will pop fairly large rocks out of the ground. Up to about the size of a couple of basketballs together.

I've got a different problem... my property sits on nothing but river rocks so what ever I plant doesn't grow.

Good part of my yard looked just like that!! I York raked it over and over until the rock sizes became manageable for he Harley rake. Depending on how deep those river rocks go, you should end with good results.
