Ford 640 / JD 70 Gas / Kubota L3830
This is from about 2 months ago. The culvert was starting to clog up with small debris/branches. After a couple of hours of my dad and I clearing all the crud out of the way, it was apparent that a big rock decided it wanted to hide in the culvert and clog it up.

Pic is after I had crawled into the culvert, and the standing COLD water, and had wrestled the chain around it. It was a real bear to get the chain secured around that rock. It kept falling off, and I kept using 4 letter words...

The Kubota had the brush hog hooked-up to it, but my old trusty JD model 70 gas didn't have any implements attached at the time (it helps to have multiple tractors /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif). So, it got the job.

I think its safe to say it has been, "rode hard and put away wet" by the previous owners...

I love that old two cylinder sound and I couldn't even tell I was pulling that rock, she didn't lug down nor strain at all. I thought the chain had come off. Thankfully it hadn't!

You just don't know how happy of a feeling it is to have a clear culvert after dealing with them when they aren't. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Great sequence of action photos, Rusty. I just hope your mom didn't hear your language down there!

Yeah, it's styled.

I have it off because I had done some work that required it to be off (it's in the machine shed). I just haven't gotten around to putting it back on yet. I really need to paint it, but it needs new rear tires ($$$).

I also need to get a muffler, but I'll probably just put on a straight pipe. It sounds so sweet right now and I don't want to change it. The 379.5 cubic inch motor with it's generous stroke makes unbelivable torque. You should hear it when it's pulling a big load! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Don't me wrong, my dads new L3830 Kubota is like driving a fine luxury car compared to the old iron - but the old stuff is neat & fun to mess around with (ok, make that all tractors are neat and fun to mess around with)!

rusty, you are sooo right, gotta love that 2 cyl "jonny popper" sound, we've got a 52 MT, and a 56 420 crawler, both great working machines
