I started having the RSA-won't-lift-the-hoe-enough-to-fit-the-LPins syndrom a while back. Not to worry, I have used the stabilizer trick. But I don't like that. It seems pretty dangerous! (mostly to my WIFE's tractor!!!)

I heard Dutch and others say to use the RS usjustment, found the reference 4to it in the 47/48/49 manual, and found the adjustment on the left of the RS arms .

So what do I do with it? Loosen or tighten the nut? How do i determine the proper setting? The manual says to see your dealer, but of course they really mean, ask on TBN...

Sadly, I am hooking it up tonight to bury our newly aquired puppy. A 10 week old, almost 40Lb Pyrenees. We don't usually get to worked up over animals that depart, but this one is pretty tough....

Sorry for your loss, Bud !!
I'll pm you the procedure, & I'll do it as quick as I can.

awwww, that hurts. sorry to hear that.

have you figured out your adjustment yet?

you can always trial and error, back the nut out one way and see if the rockshaft limit stops the rs earlier or lets it go up higher. it doesn't take many turns, i think spec says to leave about 1 inch of free play if you were to lift the rs up by hand. (unloaded obviously)

Thanks guys!!

I looked at the service manual page, GoodGuy, Thanks for sending it... Wow, the engineers sure had fun coming up with that procedure...

last night, I did what Dutch is suggesting, and backed it out a little, but it still wasn't up all the way. I went a haead and raised it with the stabilizers. But, I'll keep at it...

Anybody know why they are going out of adjustment?

It was DarkThirty when I got home, so I got it hooked up. The wife and kids will dig the hole today and put the little big guy in there. That'll help threm feel a little better.

Was it out of adjustment Mike, & if so how much ?? A Bunch ?? When my 4210 was new, it would lift the hoe easy & then after a bit, I had to keep holding back on the rockshaft lever with pressure to get it released. I just figured normal wear & tear & everything settling in. Just curious as to whether you were out of spec. Once again, sorry about your loss, honestly, burying our pet friends through the years has been the hardest tasks I've had to do in life /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The story is the same here, at first it had no problem, then it got to where it lacked maybe 1/8" to slide the pins in. I have only had one chance to try (on a cold, dark night) and haven't succeeded yet.

We have tracked down an excellant prospect to replace the puppy. That is already helping a bunch! I have a buch of great kids, wjo have been very caring for their mother, who has taken this the hardest.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts; this level of emotion ocver a pet has been totally foreign to us... Good thing, since we have had our fair share of animal losses...
