rolled my Kubota on its side - concerned

When I'm on a slope, my right hand is ALWAYS on the FEL control.

I did one job (that I'll walk away from if a similar one comes up!) where a homeowner wanted the slope behind his lot smoothed, gulley's filled, and tilled to plant grass seed.

I used the box blade rippers to drag out some debris, then tilled it. It SCARED me a lot. Whenever the low side wheel would drop in a gulley, I could feel the high side getting thin! The patch was long and narrow, with fescue sod on the top, so I couldn't drive perpendicular over it without causing damage.

My FEL was barely inches off the ground as I inched along with both the ripper and tiller. After I had it chopped up a little, I was able to push dirt from the bottom to the top edge to fill it all in, but that was the most nervous I've been with my Bota.

Had you not had the seatbelt on you might have been crushed. Good example of why you should always wear the belt since you could be on yor side or back in an instant as you were. Had you not had the belt on you might not be talking to us right now.

Glad you and the Bota are both safe.

It's easy to roll a tractor! I had many close calls on my B7500 during loader work & snow operations! I elected to fill the rear tires on the new 3030 and i think it makes a huge difference on stability. Good to hear you walked away.

Been there, done that. Should be no problems.

Did get a good look underneath whilst my girl was on its side. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How did you get it back upright?

My God, I've been watching this post.. I think of how I would have reacted it if I rolled the tractor. I've never really thought of what I would do.

Especially with the few hours you have on the machine.. I'll bet you were upset.. What kind of damage resulted?

I realize it's an Industrial machine.. but we don't like to damage them do we?

Egad.. I guess those times when I haven't buckled the belt I'll consider myself lucky and do if FROM NOW ON!

at least I've kept the ROPS up. I have a neighbor who, I believe, has NEVER put his up yet.

Lazy... or stupid ?

or both?

Next door neighbor operates a JD310E backhoe big rig. Both our properties back up to a 40deg bluff, about 200ft down to a river. One day he was working out near the edge of the bluff and the rig tipped over but didn't go down the bluff. Somehow the backhoe broke the fall. Since it was laying partially on the downslope he had to bring in two other commercial backhoes to get it righted.

I didn't see him tip it but I watched the rescue. I only wished I had taken some pix. The commercial operators told him just to wait about 30min for the fluids to settle then start it up which he did.

Advice may have changed over the years, but at one time jumping was the wrong thing to do. As you now know, at first the tractor will go over slow, so you think you have plenty of time to get clear; but once it passes the center of gravity it goes fast. A friend told me that after I watched him roll his forklift while loading it onto his truck; he wasn't belted in so he grabbed the high side of the roll bar and rode it down. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Anyways, gld to hear you (and your tractor) came out of it OK.
