Rolling blackouts

We got around 4-5 " of new snow. Seems the only thing the weather guy's have gotten close to, are the temps.

One of my neighbors made it into Euless (mid cities, about 40 miles one way) to the Bell Helicopter facility. He said he only got sideways once in Boyd TX. He drove 15-20 mph said it was a "hair raiser"! Told him " good thing, your going bald".

I kept my 20yoa daughter home from work last night, she works at a Wally World 30 miles away while she goes to college. Told her I'd pay her to stay home, figure that would be $75 well possibly well spent.

We got a about 3/4" snow in central Texas @23 degrees this morning. So it's a snowday on my circular drive project.
No more power outages, still haven't turned on the central heat, the WB stove has been burning continuously and is keeping the house at 67-72 degrees.

For the last hour and a half or so, we had a pretty heavy snowfall. I think it's over now. I don't know how the "official" measurement of snowfall is taken, but my 5" capacity rain gauge is full.

Bird, Kathy just told me to ask you if you'd mind running to the store and pick up some bananas and powder donuts for her. Those are her favorites.:laughing::laughing:

Jim, I'll be glad to do that for Kathy . . . about next Tuesday. And maybe we didn't get as much snow as I thought. Snow had stuck to the inside of my rain gauge making it appear from a distance to be full, but it was probably only 3" deep. Anyway, it melted down to only a quarter inch of water. And the snow on the sidewalk in front of the house is only 2.5 to 3" deep.

Rolling blackouts??? Come on, get better excuse than that to increase power cost. Everyone knew winter was coming, and this would be a good time to pull maintenence on some of the generators. Excuse me, but I need a better excuse. Maintenence during the main usage part of the season? I doubt any of this was scheduled. We have gotton cold weather here, lot of snow and ice, but nothing to call for rolling blackouts. Just lack of maintenence and another excuse to increase power cost. Fact is Fact. People north of us are laughing about the little dusting and ice. What would we do if we lived there?

My wife had a minor surgical procedure Wednesday morning, so we left the house before 5:00 to be at the Medical Center in Houston by 6:00. The thermometer showed 21° when we left. Heard about the rolling blackouts on the way home later that morning.

Sure enough, when we pulled in the drive, the garage door wouldn't open, so knew power was out. Problem was, I didn't have a house key, so this 65 year old fat guy goes crawling in a window (not a pretty sight according to my wife). I finally got in and went out to get the wife from the car. But when we got back in the house, the electricity had come on. If I had only been five minutes later getting home, I wouldn't have had to do that.:( The power must have been off awhile because the house was pretty cold.

We were supposed to have snow but it never materialized. I sure would have liked an excuse to get a little seat time pushing snow around on my brand new Kubota L3400. So far, I've only been able to sit there and look at it. Chomping at the bit for spring to get here. I hire out for acreage mowing and light dirt work. I want to see how it does after owning a little B7510.

Don't throw rocks at me, but the temperatures are supposed to be in the 80's this weekend.

Diving under the table right now!
