Hello,
I'm new to the tractor world and just picked up a 6' rollover box blade that I was told was about 40-50 years old. Although it's not in the best condition the price was right and I now have a project. The rippers (2 are missing) are in sad shape and I am looking into replacing them or adding new teeth. Are notched shanks and or teeth are still available? There are no identifying marks, anybody know the manufacturer?

Removing the round bar that holds the rippers should not be a problem, my question is how difficult is it to push it back into position?
I do have the handle that unlinks/links the rollover that I will weld back into place.

Any information, suggestions would be helpful. See attached pics.

scarficer's / rippers / shanks (depends on who ya talk to), i would say pull one off, and take to a local tractor dealer, more so a older dealer in your area. with some of the older gents in the office that works the part counter.

you might try a local AG store, say tractor supply, farm and fleet, farm king, or the like. they might have some spare rippers you could double check the dimensions on. if all else fails, pull a good ripper off and take to a local metal fab shop in your area, and see what they might be able to do.

the couple rippers that are bent *shrugs*, i would not worry about. ya there bent, but looks like tips on them are still good? kinda hard to tell in picture. rippers are just there to bust up hard compacted soil. as long as they do that, *shrugs*.

==========
looking at the rust on it... i would say hook it up to tractor, and grease it up good, run it for 30 minutes or so, then hit it with more grease, and repeat a couple times. to work things loose, shine up cutting edge, and the rippers, along with working the rust off of various locations. then give it a good clean with a pressure washer, and then see about pulling the rippers off. "assumption" a good working of it, will help remove some of the rust and free things up due to some "slack / slop" in pins / holes / bearings, and frozen in place due to rust.

you may have to use some BP blaster, squirt it in all the locations, let it set for a half day or day, then squirt some more, and repeat for 2 to 4 times. letting the BP blaster work its way into spots and free things up.

==========
seeing it is a 3pt hitch version vs a pull behind, if you raise unit up with 3pt hitch, block the sucker up with some wood or like, before you start messing with it, (greasing it up, removing rippers, etc...) so it does not suddenly come down on you, and either kill or trap you.

You have a Gannon roll over box blade. Gannon is long out of business, sold out to Woods Implements many years ago. You should still be able to find some rippers that will work. The cross bar-pin can be a pain to get back in, but is obviously doable. Much easier with 2 people.

Enjoy your find. :thumbsup:
