Front-End Loader Root Grapple weight on 300CX FEL?

I'm building a Root Grapple for my JD 300CX FEL and my design looks to be about 500 lbs. I am wondering if this is going to be too heavy? I'm ready to start welding but I'm concerned that I might be going to big and maybe I need to reduce weight in my design. The design is 60 inches wide and has about a 45 inch wide grasp. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't know. What percent of your loaders lift are you using up? 5%, 50%, 99%?

I believe the lift capacity for the 300CX is 1600 lbs and the weight of the HD bucket that I am replacing is about 250 lbs.

I have a Kioti CK20 with KL120 loader. The loader capacity at pivot pins is 1070lbs to full height. I took off the bucket, added a 125lb QA adapter and a 280lb Millonzi 48" root grapple. I have plenty of lift capacity for brush and can lift a big enough log that even with a bush hog on the rear and loaded rear tires I have to be careful driving forward. Of course there are some things I can load into my grapple that I cannot lift but so far those are limited to huge roots/stumps that I can just push along the ground. Photo of what I can and cannot lift attached.

I think with your loader you'll be fine. On the other hand, why not make your grapple a bit narrower? You shouldn't feel compelled to have a grapple the same width as your bucket. Wider grapples don't really add that much and do lower your total payload weight.

Thanks for the comparison. That helps a lot and appears as though I should be OK. So I guess there's no excuse know and I need to start welding!

Looks to me that lifting a log for cutting into firewood should be no problem.
Average log we deal with is maybe 12 feet long and up to 20 inches diameter.

I have read on this site many times about Millzoni grapples. I am particularly intrigued by the 48 inch grapple referenced by Jinman, I believe. When I googled millzoni, didn't come up with much. Where should I research this further??

I had the same problem finding info on that grapple. I already have a heavy root rake but I'm in need of a grapple. I like the idea of going with the 48 inch grapple to life more.
