Doing my little research here. Anybody knows the root of celery is edible and uses it for cooking? It is more like German/Central European cuisine - I use it for soups and stews and such just like carrots or any other root vegetable.

So, do you know/use root of celery? In the peasant tradition in my country it has some "viagra" type of effect on man:D:D:D

I always heard that celery was about our only food with a negative calorie count; i.e., burned more calories chewing it than you get from it. I do like raw celery in salads or stuffed with pimento cheese, and cooked in soups and such, but don't guess I've every even seen a celery root.

Quite ugly, round and the size of an onion. I believe it is a variation on the green celery - i.e. the root from green celery proly looks different.

I'm pretty sure you can get celery root in most of the groceries around me here. I think I've had it as a puree. It's been a while though. You got me thinking about it so I'm putting in the order with the Mrs. She'll be game.

Can't say I know anything about its affect on the pencil. Can't hurt. :D

there is also celeriac and in stokes its called the giant prague, roots are eaten after they get 2'' or larger, have a nut like flavor, grown similar to celery.
