I took out 1 of my Dad's garage doors this weekend. I forgot to put down the ROPS. Fortunately, It was just the door, not the garage frame. We were able to bend it back enough to make it operable. We both have 8 foot doors, but the door openers only allow the door to open to about 7' 6", not quite enough for the ROPS to clear.

My dad lives next door, and with storage space at a premium, I house the 4300, rear blade and tiller, and dad stores the finish mower and backhoe. I'm sure glad he's so even keeled, well tempered and a great dad to boot.

We are planning on building a pole barn sometime next spring.

Been there too, and finally bought the right garage door opener for the 8' door, to get the door to go all the way up. Well worth it for us forgetful ones.

Glad everything turn out okay.
I somewhat now how you feel..kinda like backing into a garage door and swearing up and down that was open last time look at. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I fabricated a 12" extension for my screw drive opener, out of angle iron. This allows the door to open to the full 8', I also had to bolt the bracket on the garage door about 8 - 12" from the top, trather than closer to the top. 3 years later it still works like a charm.

What brand bike rack was it, sounds like a good one!

The garage doors open with a chain drive, and the track and chain aren't long enough to get any more out of it. Realistically, I could just disconnect the door from the opener on the side I pull into and just life it by hand. This would give me the clearance. It wouldn't help me remember at my dad's though because the hoe and mower sit in from of my mom's truck.

My door is the manual type, but I had the same problem. Attached is my high tech solution. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Been there! Fortunately, a friend replaced his Genie screwdrives with the new "safer" jobs, and gave me his old ones, one of which had an extra long shaft. That went on the door to the shop bay in my garage.

Next bay over still has the shortie. Backed the pickup in, loaded the oxy-acetylene torch cart and tanks in, and drove out. Got to where I was going, jumped in the back of the truck to unload the cart, and ruined a perfectly good pair of skivvies. Like a dummy, I hadn't put the caps on the tanks, and the oxy valve had hung on the bottom of the overhead door and bent at about a 30 degree angle.

It was several hours before I could unclench the ol' cheeks enough to sit comfortably...
