ROPS Canopy

Sixdogs,

That's my last name. I put my name on everything. I have a couple different size metal stencils which I paint my name on all my stuff. Once you have had a few things stolen, you start taking precautionary steps. And it helps when you loan things out to friends.

Yes, that's Pal. He loves pears. He's the first shepherd I've ever had and is different than the other dogs I have had. Very loyal and smart, and a velcro dog.

I posted a picture of the one I built some time ago in another thread. Since then I have added a rear view mirror, and a fan for cooling the old man off. I made it with one inch angle and made a box I got the top from a race car factory nearby which stocks the plastic. It will fold, bend, and take a lot of punishment. More than the frame. I had them put it in a brake and make the bends on the edges. Just do a search for canopy and it is a New Holland tractor with a pic of the thing. Inside the frame I put a bolt on each corner to hold the top on and put two pieces of foil covered foam insulation in it to help with the heat we have here. In addition on the outer edges you can put small strips of steel to keep it from warping. I bolted mine on. I bolted two metal posts on the side of the ROPS with square type ubolts DID NOT drill into the ROPS. I put two braces and it has held now for about 3 years does a good job.

What is the name that seems to be written on things like the chair and fan?

Is that the dog that eats pears?
Looks like he has an appetite for plastic watering cans too:D :D

Am thinking about making an easily removable canopy/sun shade to attach to my ROPS for my Kubota BX23...Any ideas/pics out there from those of you who have fabricated one? Thinking it could be a little tricky because the ROPS folds and needs to at times when I'm working around apple trees in my orchard...Thanks!

Don

What about the folding 'buggy tops' like TSC sells.. either femco or snowco type. They can fold when you fold the rops.. easy to install a variety of ways..

Yes Brian,

The plastic watering can is one of his favorite toys. I have several ropes with knots in them for playing puppy pull. He drags them around, too.

Soundguy...Haven't looked at the buggy tops...Will do some reasearch on the net and see if there's some pics of them...Have you owned one? Thanks for your input.

Yes.. many of my older tractors have the buggy tops.. I like them.. and they advertise being able to work with foldable rops.. which I don't have.. etc.

Are you planning to leave the sunshade on the ROPS when you fold it? Or would you remove the shade and then fold the ROPS?

There's a guy on eBay that sells shade canopies (yellow, blue, orange, and red) that easily fasten to the ROPS and are removable. They're about $245 + shipping. Just search for "tractor sunshade".

Yes, I believe that's the kind my frame had on it in my earlier post with the pictures. I recall it had molded in spaces for lights. The thing blew off while I was towing it home but that's another story. These tops are advertised everywhere.
