Does anyone have a better (quicker) solution for keeping the pins in place beside the 'rings' that come standard with the ROPS pins? I hope this question is clear, at least to those who regularly fold/unfold the ROPS as I have to do to clear the garage door.

jd; Get rid of the rings, and use lynch pins instead. Thats what my DA came with along with what I'll call a keeper strap. It's nothing more than a small cablr covered with heat shrink attached to the ROPS so you don't loose the pin or lynchpin. One improvement the dealer didn't have to adjust. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The steel rings were a pain in the rear. I just changed mine to lynch pins.

John/Vic thanks for the info. I knew there had to be something better than the steel rings. I just didn't know lynch pins came that size. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If your tractor dealer doesn't have a big assortment I saw a bunch of sizes in the bolt department at Lowe's. I needed some small one on my Jeep and found just what I needed there.

You might check the fishing gear at Wal Mart and find some steel fishing leaders with snaps on the ends to use for a keeper so the linch pins won't get lost (as often).

I have lost so many linch pins that I expect to see little linch pin trees sprouting up in the Spring!

jd2210va; Here is a photo showing what I've got. If you've got a decent TSC near you, the parts could probably be gotten there also. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Lynch pins are fine, but I've lost two already. Better yet, change to the lynch pin system NH now puts on the DA models. The pin is held by a steel cable which also holds the large pin in case either falls out.

Thanks for that info. I'll check with my NH dealer next time I'm there to see if they sell them for my tractor (don't see why they wouldn't). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Kris. Thanks for another good idea on the ROPS pins. I appreciated your web page also. Looks like some nice solutions/enhancements you've made and there again gives me some ideas for future tractor mods of my own. Also makes me realize I need to get the welding machine I purchased (in December) out of the box and learn how to use it!
