Sounds impressive, good to hear you got all the right stuff.

Let us know how your fuel consumption goes with all that candlepower!

Cheers,

Jon

I'd still consider moving that fuse as close to the batt as possible. My dad had a long wire right off the batt which got pinched. It made a big mess of things and could have easily started a fuel fire (gas). In fact, he's lucky that it didn't happen as the wire was ty-wrapped to his fuel line!

I'm going to do just that - move the fused section of the light(s) harness to just off the positive battery terminal and then splice in the extended section of wire to allow access to the ROPS area where the lights will be mounted. This way each pair of lights will be fed directly from the battery. Each pair be fused within inches of the battery terminal and in case of an overload the fuse will open and break the current through the rest of the wiring harness, thus preventing a fire if a worse case scenario were to occur.
This is how preconstructed harnesses are wired for lights of this type for cars/trucks etc. My only issue is how I was going to get the wires to the ROPS from the battery. The more recent harness relays wire the feed to the lights through the ground side of the relay instead of the hot side to further prevent shorts/fires, etc.
So that's my working plan and I'm going to follow through on it carefully and cautiously until it is completed and double- checked.
When it is complete I will have the two pairs of H-3 Halogen lights, 7" each on the front side of the rollbar and two 3x5" rectangular lights on the backside, with a low amp strobe in the middle, with a canopy above to protect the strobe and orange mechanically driven (motorized) flasher light in the center. It should be awesome when completed!

That’s the best bet is having the fuse close to the battery, also if you use relays they should be close too.
Shortening the distance with the fuse, as stated before, reduces the risk of a fire if the circuit shorts and having the relays close shortens the live wire length.
The relays being close tot eh battery is not always possible but keep them in the engine compartment if possible.

Coyote,

Drop me a PM and let me know when you're going to install the lights. Maybe I can free up some time and zip over from house in Wilmington and help you out.
