My 2007 B3030 has a permanent (non-foldable) ROPS that can't be removed because, besides the bolts, the ROPS is also welded into its brackets.

Is the normal for this model year?

I think I'd like a foldable system, any suggestions?

Recently I was doing a "build your Kubota" thing for a B3030, and noticed that there was a choice between folding and non folding ROPS. It might have been ordered that way. I'll bet it could be converted...but I'm not sure how easy it would be.

The 2 piece foldable ROPS for a B3030HSD is the SFB-F30.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of adding the hinge. Does anyone have a price on the foldable from Kubota?

My 05 has the non-foldable ROPS. I got it that way because I put a canopy on it.

The foldable ROPS for the B3030 is 8 inches higher than the installed rigid ROPS, and costs $625 + tax in these parts. I think I'm going to pass on it.

At the risk of the wrath of the safety police, the rigid one could be shortened enough to go in your doors. I did that to mine years ago and it was still way better than none, and also better than a folding one left down, which I'll bet happens often. Besides a shorter ROPS makes the tractor look fast.

Why couldn't you just order a pair of hinges for the ROPS from Kubota and cut Your ROPS in the middle and install the hinges...? Seems that is possible...but I don't know..

The hinges and lock pins would need to be strong enough to hold the tractor up.

I've got a spouse who builds cranes and could easily modify the ROPS with hinges (she says). The short version (rbargeron) looks good. What holds me back is the so-called trade-in discount that comes with modifications to the safety features.

I done this on my B7800.

As long as the ROPS is a few inches above the operator's head, it'll probably be safe enough.
As far as "and also better than a folding one left down, which I'll bet happens often"...yep...just look at a number of pictures posted on TBN.

Exactly, it accidentally stays down. When I start loader work I will have to pick it up and fight for over an hour to get it bolted up. Then throw a FEMA tarp over it at night....Yeah...

Nice job and now i see how it can be done.. You still use the grade 8 bolts, or pins? My retainer is different, but it should work too?

All the bolts are # 8 and I think the pins are top link pins.

jdfire (I like that you were able to preserve the "Do Not Modify" sticker)
boy o boy that was a must.

Any speculation about roll-over safety with this hinge? Will it hold up under the weight?

/ ROPS? #19
The hinge? Loaded question.. But with a hardened pin in place it also takes some of the load. It is probably as strong...After all the rpos is made out of steel tubing. I was surprised to see it had a USA label riveted to it. I guess in 03, Kubota did not put rops on in japan for export?

The only way to know for sure is to test it (roll the tractor).
I'd go with the factory hinges if available for purchase (bet they aren't!).

Any modification of the ROPS (other then installing a Kubota folding ROPS) may require replacement if you sell or trade.
