I am thinking of getting a rotary cutter for my
BX2200 too.
My guess is that I will go with a 42" myself, but in no case would I consider anything larger than 48". My Woods BB60, which is a 60", would laugh at both me and my BX if I tried to hook it up to that tractor... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
While the 5' on the back of my
B2910 has worked well for me on the two hillside acres I had to clear of brush/thorn bushes now that it is pretty much clear, I think the bx would be a safer tractor to use to maintain it. That is my motivation for maybe going smaller(in case anyone wonders... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif).
Smaller is better too if you have trees to work between. For rotary cutting, I don't know if it really matters if the cutter is wider than the tractor rear wheels or not. I don't think that is an issue in my case, so I will probably go with the 42" for my bx if I do buy one. Occasionally in the trees I have thought that a 4' might have been a better choice to pull behind my
B2910...
I've noticed that I am gradually transitioning away from the "bigger is always better" mode of thinking...but if what you are cutting is all pretty much flat and open, then the 48" would not be a problem I bet.
Maybe some BX owners with rotary cutters will give us some hands on experience reports. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I hope so... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
