I had to do that on my Massey because the 3 point would not hold a position accurately. It should not be necessary on a Kubota to have the check chains, although it does not hurt anything. They do not do anything that the 3 point position lever and stop should not do as well.

The problem comes when people just push the position lever all the way down and let the mower ride on the skids.

JimBinMI - Getting the bucket off the ground would be considered a prerequisite to the gradual lowering via "leakdown". This may have something to do with your not having observed the phenomenon. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
