Rotary Cutter Too Big For Tractor?

I for sure wouldn't like a deck like that that kept he cut material circulating.. lotsa load on the pto...not real ideal for thick brush and new cuts. probbaly fine on established clean pasture though..

You will not tear up either the bush hog or tractor as long as you don't do anything crazy. My MX-6 calls for 30hp on the pto. 25hp should work for your 286 as long as you are doing light work. Your biggest problem may be having a light front end on your tractor!!

and that's easy to remidy.. hang some weight onthe front end. either on a bumper.. or find a way to attach to the front bolster.. etc.

Soundguy...I am not crazy about it either and frequently I have to mow some tall and thick grass..You have any ideas on how I could modify this bush hog..the front of the deck has a rubber shield to the ground and the back is all steel to the ground...the one I use on my big JD has chains in the back...????

Take an angle grinder and cut the back out of the thing and then weld some angle iron around the opening to reinforce it so that it dosent flex since you have taken away some of the structural integrity. With angle iron as bracing it should be as strong as new

Thanks to all for the comments. Points well taken about taking it easy and having enough weight on the front end. My NH has a loader and if that's not enough weight by itself I can always fill the bucket with gravel or dirt.

I have a 296 (similar to a 286) on a TC45.
It tears **** out of the weaka$$ 3 point equipment on that NH 45hp tractor

I ran it for a while on a 1433 (33hp) MF and I had to take small bites.

It's way too much mower for that TC29. Weight alone.
