Rotary Cutter Rotary Cutter vs Forsythia

Mike,

Good job!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

FEL w/ toothbar will travel - very effective combination. Add a little rotary cutter and voila, cleared area!! Now, just to have some more fun. Go back over the area with your FEL and toothbar using them like a rake. Try this:

1. Drive the tractor towards the fence
2. Place the FEL and toothbar over the area where the forsythia once existed.
3. Curl the bucket downward a few degrees
4. Drop the bucket and get those teeth into the soil - you want to have some weight on the bucket and teeth
5. Drive backwards a little.
6. Repeat

You are basically grubbing. That is turning up the soil to remove the roots, root balls, etc. This will lessen the chance of the forsythia returning. You also churn up the soil. You may have to do a little digging to remove some of the nastier roots. With the size of the area, it wouldn't take very long.

Hey, I also see that you got that fence in yesterday (and weathered it too)!! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Wow - you were busy!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Terry,

Thanks! It was fun doing this. I'll give your grubbing instructions a try.
