Rotary Mower for CK20s

Will a CK20s handle a 5' rough cut rotary mower or do I need to stick with a 4'. Will be used to cut pasture and around edges of large fields, probably nothing bigger than an inch sapling.

I have a 4' woods cutter on mine, and my CK20 handles in just great. Never hit too many saplings over 1-2 inches, but it takes out scrub rose bushes 6' tall, and other weeds taller than me with no problem. Can't imagine it wouldn't handle one more extra foot, maybe not of the heaviest duty kind, though. Most likely the weight of the cutter is the deciding factor, not the power to cut things, though, since weight goes up quickly on bigger models.

I have a 5 ft woods heritage mower that I cut 50 to 60 acres a year at various locations including a couple of 10 acre lots. If the going is real tough with the hydrostat you just ease up on the pedal.The 4 foot would work all the better but is a little narrower than the tires. Gary

I have a 4 foot hog and I can take a 4 or 5" pine out no problem it is awesome in brush cause you can keep the rpm's up. for the feilds I use a 5 foot finish mower much cleaner job

I used a 48 inch Bush Hog rotary cutter and a 60 inch RFM on mine. You could use a light duty 5ft hog but you'd be going real slow in thick grass. If I were to do it again I'd still get the 48 inch cutter if I were handling any brush clearing. If it is just for pasture mowing and you mow frequently, especially in the spring, then I think the CK20 would handle a 5ft light duty hog.
