60" FM and 4Ft. Brush cutter for me. It's behind a YM2000. 20Hp. at the Pto. 24 Eng.. Never had a problem using either. Over 10 Yrs. on the FM. Don't use the Brush cutter much. Which I call the "Beast". The FM. gets used Weekly to Bi-Weekly. Never had a single problem with it. It fits and sets up perfect. I do use Straight blades instead of High lift though. The High lift doesn't last long compared to the Straight. I just checked and 5yrs. on the straight compared to 2yrs on the H. Lift. And they are "Gone". No complaints about the Finish either. Do you make sure that your getting the Pto. Gear into 1st. all the way down. I know that I use 2nd. @ 1800 rpms. for my grass. And you can tell it by having to raise the Rpms. on take off...

Maybe that's the problem....????

When I replaced the blades I used heavy gator mulching blades.

That would be my guess, also.

My zero turn is in the shop so the grass was probably a little taller than it should have been for a finish mower. I'll give it another try after my grass is under control becuase it laid down one heck of a smooth cut compared to my ZT mower.

yea I will second and third all the others if the grass is tall its not going to work well. The chute is not big enough to allow all the grass to clear well, and because its a finish deck it cuts it all up into little pieces and not just lays it over like a bush hog. All that grass in there takes extra HP to turn it and really its not sometimes a HP thing as if a bigger tractor uses it, and there is to much resistance the belt will just start slipping as you burn it up.

I had to look up the Deere 261 and it's Side Discharge. That's were the Rear Works extremely well. Even when I hit Septic tank lines of growth for example. I can slow mine down if I don't watch out. I could just imagine what a side would be like. Then you have the Side row of grass to get rid of that takes multiple passes to get rid of. So keeping the grass cut short would be well worth the extra seat time IMO....
