rotary mower vs. finish mower

I think WOODS makes a 90 inch rotary cutter finish-type mower that can be used for meadows and pastures. It is like a cross of a rotary cutter and finish mower. There a re 3 blades that pivot on a dish like a rotary cutter in case you hit obstructions. Look up this mower under WOODS website. It may be listed as a finish mower but may be a good compromise for you. You would probably need a larger tractor (30HP? or more) to run it.

Good choice. Keep in mind replacement parts such as blades etc. I personally like to buy equipment from the local dealer for that reason. (only have JD locally). I recently purchased a JD HX-10 to go behind a Ford 7740 although the dealer also sells Bushog, Woods, etc. Parts for the other makes would not be a problem to get but he stocks most parts for the JD including gearboxes. Just food for thought.

P.S. Believe it or not the JD rotary cutter was cheaper than any of the other comparable brands.

I believe it, for the JD rotary mowers aren't in the same league as they are in tractors. Rhino, Bushhog, Landpride, and probably even Woods mowers are better than a JD mower. Hence the cheaper price.
