rotary screw type wood splitter

you'd have to be crazy to use either one of those machines in the videos...the screw needed a saftey shield as you screw the log on...wonder how many arms and lives that gizmo has claimed. What a few will do to save a buck or two....get a decent machine that has controls...those two items have a life of their own....I shuttered when I saw them both being used....

I had one many years ago. Don't remember what brand. It could be dangerous if you didn't keep your head screwed on. The biggest problem I had was that some big, green, stringy, locust logs would stall it. It had no reverse. I would the have to chain saw very carefully to relieve the tension and start again. It had a centrifugal clutch. When I started using more wood I sold it and got a hydraulic unit.

I used a stickler on a 78 chevy P/U till I sold the truck. New truck had a posi track and it was too much trouble to make it work. Never had a close call. you just need to pay attention.
