I have a Bad Boy 1022 Sub-Compact Tractor on the way and my other half “requested” a tiller. The 1022 is rated at 21.5 HP with 15.4 HP at the PTO. The question is this tractor capable of handling a Bad Boy (48 inch) ROTARY TILLER - BBRT48. It describes working with a 25 HP-45 HP range. I am curious what users have found with the BBRT48 Tiller on sub-compact tractors?
I was going to pick the tractor up but a couple of issues came up.
1. The trailer to haul it is on order. They will loan me a trailer to haul it home. I can live with that. I found that I wished many times that I had a trailer when I had my Kioti.
a. Necessary for side gigs.
b. Useful if I need to have the tractor worked on.
c. Useful for hauling material for our never ending DIY projects instead of renting a trailer or jury rigging hauling long pieces of material in a Jeep Gladiator Pickup.
2. The tractor had a problem when I picked it up. The salesman pointed out that the fuel gauge wasn’t working. He asked if wanted to take it home or pick it up on Monday after it was fixed. I chose for them to repair it. I’ll get on Monday hopefully repaired. I checked the fuel and it was full confirming a faulty fuel gauge.
I’ll eventually get around to a user review once it has some hours on it. Based on feedback here, I opted for a belly mower for my small property. Thanks everyone for the feedback.
My initial perspective is that it is very small which is good for this small piece of Texas. It fits my small Filipina wife and she IS NOT intimidated by the size like with the Kioti. This means that both of us will use it with me doing the maintenance. The controls in most cases are similar to the Kioti which simplifies operations. The engine compartment seems very accessible but I’ll comment more on that after I do the 50 hour service.
I will appreciate your views on the choice for the 48 inch tiller.
