Tiller Rotary Tillers - Sicma Phoenix vs Ansung Terra Force

PS one tip - take a wrench and check all the bolts, and do it again after a bit of use. On mine I find one that needs snugging up once in a while.

I second this tip. I did it on mine. Didn't find anything really loose, but it's worth a few minutes to do it.

Congrats. You're going to like it. What was your cost delivered?

Right around $3450 delivered to freight terminal. I had two other items that factored into the freight, so I am not 100% on the exact amount. Price before shipping was $3187.50.

Thanks for the pics. It looks like all you have to do is the PTO assembly, and probably add gearbox oil.

Looks great.

Yup, and top link assembly as well as kick stand. No biggie...will enjoy doing it.

Thanks for the tips on the loose bolts. Will check them all before it hits the garden.

That seems reasonable. My 74" was right at $2500 picked up at my local dealer (30 miles away).

I went back and forth between the 74 and 80 and wondered why so much of a price bump for 6 inches of tilling width. From the best I could tell, the main difference was that the tube that bottom clevis lift points are welded to extends the width of the frame on the 80 versus stopping at the lift points on the 74. I am sure the 74 is structurally sound, but I just felt safer going with the beefier hitch on the 80. Plus, the total width of my rear tires is 73.5 inches, and I liked the 80 to make sure I covered my tracks. ;)

i am also looking at the yjr74 but my tractor needs to have the hitch 26 or so inches wide or narrower and the hitch on the terra force looks like it is too wide.am i missing something?i really like the extra weight and spring loaded tailgate.

Maybe someone who has the YJR74 can measure theirs to be sure, but I do know the 80 is Cat II only, and the 74 is Cat I or II. The 74 has clevises for both widths. Cat I is standard 26 inches wide.

For those interested, I found out about the 3 pt strap to the gearbox change to the box frame on top of the Ansung tiller. I know this applies to the YJR 80/90 models, but not so sure on the others. There are actually 4 generations of these tillers, and the first two included the 3rd link strap design attaching directly to the top of the gear box. They changed it on the third generation to the 3rd link box frame and have kept it for the 4th gen. To check your generation of YJR 80/90 use the following link to check the serial number ranges at the bottom of page 3.

Here is the link for the YJR74 to check your generation...

More is not always better. The Terraforce has them spaced in a rotary cutter pattern and the tip length is a bit longer. It will also till 8" vs 7 and the unit is 200 lb heavier. If you can, do a side by side comparison on how they are made.. Ill try and measure mine tomorrow if they will help you.

PS - these folks have a good price on the YJR074. McGee Farm Equipment, Inc.

In my research, the only advantage I noticed with the Sicma was the sight glass for the side gear oil. The advantages of the Terra Force outweighed this by having a bolt on second plate for the skids and spring tail gate versus chain on the Sicma.

BTW-That's where I bought mine from. Very good experience dealing with them! BTW-You can specify red or orange for the colors.

one other advantage is the sicma is 350 dollars cheaper at this place, but the terra force is 200lbs heavier.i also found the sicma 520 dollars cheaper at another site.i can afford either one but i like to save whenever it is feasible.

I don't feel you will go wrong with either brand. I would pull the trigger on what you feel is best for you and not look back. :)

MY Bobcat CT235 is 34 HP and 26.5 at the PTO. However it is hydrostatic, so I can slow down as much as needed when it digs in. It will load me down somewhat when I am at full depth in wet stuff, but I can feather the speed and pull through easily. I have never had it stall the tractor or slip the units slip clutch. For deep digging I run in low range and just take my time and let it work.

However I did demo the unit on my tractor before buying.

thanks-mine is a hydro also so i should be ok.

thanks i would really appreciate that

Measured the distance to the Cat I inner and outer flanges. It's 26.5" between the inside faces, and 31.5" between the outer faces. The Cat 2 slot starts at 32.5"

I can easily hook up with my Bobcat with plenty of room to spare between the outer points on the lift arms. Just check you tractor, it should work. One question - what is you lift capacity as this beast weighs 920 lbs.

Good luck with your choice.

my lift cap. is 1435 @24inches ,is this good enough of a safety factor?i dont want to damage my tractor if i can help it.
