Rototilled then which attachment for new lawn

I rototilled deep to get a fresh start on old, over-grazed pasture. Now I would like to prepare the soil for planting grass seed for lawn. The soil is about 8 inches of fluffly sandy loam, so I need to know what is the best thing to use to firm things up.

I have done the same on three different occasions. What I did after I roto-tilled is I took a drap and dragged it out smooth. Then I took my fertilizer spreeder and spred grass seed all over. Then I took the drag again and dragged the seed in a bit. This worked really good and I had really thick grass. Now I did spred the seed at a thicker rate than suggested.

Oh yes before I put the seed down I had some good starter fertilizer spred out. After I had about 1" of grass I came back and spred more fertilizer with a higher nitrogen content and then the grass really took off.

Also the fall works better as you have cooler days but you still have warm soil.

If you have access to a cultipacker run the cultipacker over the soil once. Then seed and run the cultipacker over again. Grass needs a firm seedbed. If you have it broken that deep and get a hard beating rain it'll drive those seed to deep. The cultipacker would prevent that. Just the way I do it here in Va. in this sandy soil.
