Rototiller question

   / Rototiller question #11
I just spent about $2k for a 60" reverse rotation LandPride tiller - NEW. Used should be under $1500 for this size and quality, maybe even $1200. CL has them for under $1200 from various firms used in the 48" and wider range.

Be sure you can cover BOTH rear tires in width or you might regret getting the smaller over the larger model.

I have the smaller version of this tiller and love it.

Jakedog has one for sale on here in I think West Va. May be to far for you. Doesn't list size or condition. Might look under his posts and check it out.

any info on the tiller would be good.

I have been reading with interest about tillers. I am getting a JD 990 tractor (40 hp). I don't know the width. I am guessing in the 65" range? What size tiller do I need. When would you offset the tiller?

Rusty,
I think you could run 5' tiller without a lot of issues. I am not sure what the PTO HP for your tractor is. I have a 50 hp gear tractor and it's got 44 PTO hp and I run a 6'. If your tractor is wider than your tiller you could offset to cover your tracks.
